Hi! I’m Kelly, the creative heart and mind behind Erato’s Enlightenment, and I hate talking about myself!
Ask me about an interest, something I’m working on, or even a completely random topic, and I can talk all day long. Ask me about me, and suddenly my brain goes silent.
So, here goes!
How Erato’s Enlightenment Came to Be
Let’s start with the birth of Erato’s Enlightenment. I’ll do my best to stick to the highlights because it’s been a long, strange journey getting here.
I’ve been an entrepreneur for a long time, so starting another business probably wasn’t a shock to anyone who knows me.
What might have been surprising was my decision to bring all the different things I do together under one roof.
But let’s be practical for a moment. Maintaining several websites and multiple social media accounts for different businesses can become overwhelming.
And since authenticity is something I value deeply, why not bring all the creativity, curiosity, occasional messiness, and fun together in one place?
That’s how Erato’s Enlightenment became a home for my many interests.
Now, about that name…
Erato is one of the nine Muses of Greek mythology, associated with love poetry, marriage, and romantic inspiration. Although I don’t write erotic poetry, her connection to love, meaningful relationships, and creativity felt appropriate.
And she’s a Muse! A source of inspiration.
For someone who seems determined to explore every interesting rabbit hole she encounters, that seemed like a pretty good fit.
A Little Magic
I’m a believer in magic.
Not the sleight-of-hand kind, but the real magic that surrounds us every day.
The magic of creating something from nothing. The magic of love and joy. The magic of life, nature, and all the wonderful things we sometimes forget to notice.
That kind of magic.
It’s part of how I see the world, and it naturally finds its way into the things I create and share.
So don’t be surprised if you occasionally find a spell, a little astrology, or some other magical exploration tucked into my musings.
It’s all part of the adventure!
A Little About How My Brain Works
Part of the reason my interests are so varied is that I have ADHD.
And before anyone suggests that ADHD is some magical superpower responsible for all my creativity, let me be clear: that’s not how I see it.
ADHD is a real condition that can be genuinely disabling.
If you live with it, you probably understand how frustrating it can be to know exactly what you need to do and still struggle to convince your brain to cooperate.
I certainly do.
I was diagnosed later in life, in my 40s, while seeking treatment for a traumatic brain injury. During that process, we were trying to understand whether several things were happening at once, including ADHD, the TBI, and PTSD.
That experience helped me understand more about how my brain works.
I don’t want to romanticize the challenges. They’re real, and some days they’re exhausting.
But I also recognize that my curiosity, wide-ranging interests, and willingness to explore unexpected possibilities have helped shape a life and a business that I genuinely love.
So, if you’re struggling with everyday responsibilities while simultaneously wanting to explore every damned rabbit hole you encounter, you’re certainly not the only one!
Authenticity Matters
That brings me to something else that’s incredibly important to me: authenticity.
I believe there’s real value in figuring out who you are and allowing yourself to live as that person.
Not the person someone else thinks you should be. Not the version of yourself you imagine everyone expects.
Just you.
Of course, that doesn’t mean we stop learning or growing. I’m certainly still figuring things out!
Equality matters deeply to me, too. Because, to borrow a familiar sentiment, none of us is truly equal until all of us are equal.
I respect who you are, your choices, and your beliefs. You don’t have to see the world the same way I do to have a place at my table.
Everyone is welcome here, with the understanding that mutual respect and dignity are something we extend to one another.
I’ve found that when I show up as myself, including the parts that are still works in progress, I create opportunities for genuine connections.
Not everyone will understand me or connect with what I do, and that’s okay.
The people who do connect are the ones I hope will feel welcome here.
And perhaps, from those connections, we’ll build friendships, share experiences, and continue learning and growing together.
Putting myself out there in the middle of all that growth?
Well, it’s always interesting, often fun, and sometimes downright hilarious.

I should probably also mention that I’m a complete geek.
I love Star Trek, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and dragons. Especially dragons!
If you’ve explored my shop, you’ve probably already figured out that last part.
You’ll likely find references to these interests scattered throughout my musings, conversations, and creative projects.
I also love to cook. While cooking isn’t officially part of Erato’s Enlightenment, that certainly doesn’t stop me from sharing what I’ve been experimenting with in the kitchen.
Sometimes I’ll share a recipe, sometimes a creative adventure, and sometimes whatever unexpected inspiration has caught my attention that day.
Because why not?
There’s no shame in my distraction game! 😊
